At HardyHouse Music we are proud to be using the MakeMusic ä program FINALE ä for all our music publishing. Anyone familiar with computer notation software through the years knows that, while there are many great programs a composer/engraver can use, FINALE ä is an incredible program! The benefit it gives the modern composer, songwriter or arranger is outstanding to say the very least! Here’s just a short synopsis of why:

  Finale represents the state-of-the-art in Music Notation Software. PC Magazine calls it “The most powerful music notation software...” Now you can have the same power that major music publishers have when engraving their music. What are some of the features in Finale? Play in your music with your MIDI instrument in one of four different ways, and Finale will notate it for you. Or, use your computer keyboard or mouse to click in notes one at a time. Add dynamics and articulations and Finale will play them for you. Transcribe music from your MIDI sequencer. Share files between Macs and PCs, MIDI keyboards, your word processor or desktop publishing program. Cut parts from scores, change keys, transpositions, and clefs with ease. Add lyrics and Finale will space them for you correctly. The list simply goes on and on and on. You have total control over every aspect of your music. Need a four line staff? How about guitar tablature? Percussion parts? Finale can do it.

However, our experience is that, in visiting with people that are striving to use it, many are just simply overwhelmed by the learning curve FINALE ä takes! We recall the early years of getting started and know how people feel! Thus, HardyHouse Music is happy to be a source for help. One of the greatest helps for us was to abide by the suggestion from the manual itself to: (in our own words) ‘start by using only what you need to use and let it grow into more. Don’t be concerned with how do Guitar Tablature Notation when you’ll probably never use it.’ It’s like they say ‘you eat an elephant one bite at a time!’

At HardyHouse Music we operate only in a Windows environment using the latest versions of FINALE ä but we are happy to try to help you with your concerns even if you’re using a different operating system.
